Irish Setter Work Boots
Made for the hunt. Worn on the job.
Irish Setter started in 1950 as Red Wing's hunting boot, named for its Oro-Russet leather, the same color as the dog. Tradespeople kept wearing them to work, so Irish Setter started building them for it. Today the lineup covers moc toe wedges, side zips and pull-ons in safety toe and soft toe.

Irish Setter, explained
Quick answers on where Irish Setter comes from, how the boots are built and how they fit.
What is Irish Setter?
Irish Setter is a boot brand from Red Wing Shoe Company in Red Wing, Minnesota. It launched in 1950 as a hunting boot line, and the name comes from its Oro-Russet leather, the same color as an Irish Setter dog. Hunters and tradespeople both picked them up, and today Irish Setter makes a full line of work boots.
Is Irish Setter made by Red Wing?
Yes. Irish Setter is owned by Red Wing Shoe Company, which has made work boots since 1905. Irish Setter has its own lineup, separate from Red Wing's own boots.
Who are Irish Setter work boots for?
People who are on their feet all day: carpenters, electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, roofers and ranch or ag workers. Most styles come in both safety toe and soft toe.
Which Irish Setter boots can be resoled?
The Wingshooter, Ashby and Setter Fifty are built with a Goodyear welt, so a cobbler can replace the sole when it wears down. The Kasota uses direct-attach construction, which is lighter and more flexible but isn't made to be resoled.
Are Irish Setter boots waterproof?
The Wingshooter, Kasota and Marshall use waterproof leather with Irish Setter's UltraDry waterproofing. The Ashby and Setter Fifty aren't sold as waterproof.
Do Irish Setter boots fit true to size?
Most reviewers say the Wingshooter fits true to size with a roomy toe box, and it comes in wide (EE). The easiest way to be sure is to try a pair on at one of our 8 shops in California and Nevada.
Do I get a free knife with Irish Setter boots?
Most Irish Setter boots ordered online come with a free Purpose-Built x Crimson M6 Folder, a $75 value. Look for the Free Knife tag on the boot. It can't be combined with other promotions or discount codes.
What's the shipping and return policy?
Free shipping on US orders over $99 (some exclusions apply). Sale and closeout items are final sale. See our return policy for everything else.
