We identified a large gap in the current wedding industry within Malaysia, in that there was no seamless way to organize and keep track of all the minute details and information associated with wedding planning. So, we took it upon ourselves to solve this issue and meet the demand of the young, tech savvy industry clientele, with an innovative new planning tool.
Each year, approximately 150K couples between the ages of 23-35 register for marriage in Malaysia. However, to-date many still rely on traditional means of organization such as spreadsheets, or hard copies of invoices to organize all their wedding information. As a result, many couples lose track of key details from each decorating meeting, cake tasting, vendor negotiations etc., adding to the stress of the already painfully detailed wedding planning process.
Given that the existing customer base fell into the tech savvy user category, we aimed to improve their experience by creating a new software & app that allows couples to seamlessly organize and share their wedding details, from one consistent platform.
Introducing WeddingLah, a planning software that set out to change the way in which couples plan their weddings.
By subscribing to this software, users can plan their wedding, organize details, create a website, and share all necessary information from one centralized platform.
The brand identity pays homage to the institution of marriage itself. The name originates from combining the act of getting married, ‘wedding’, with ‘LAH’, a colloquial South East Asian term. When translated together, ‘Wedding Lah’ is a phrase that encourages people to hurry up and get married. With regards to the visual identity, our logo integrates the mouse click icon, to represent the digital platform, paired with a knot to symbolize the merging of two families.
The software itself consists of wedding planning tools, which allows users to input and monitor their wedding budget, compile comprehensive to-do lists, create electronic wedding invitations, and design a website to share all the details and photos with their guests. WeddingLAH is optimized for mobile and is available for both Android and iOS, allowing you plan your wedding on-the-go.
To train this new behaviour, we launched a social media campaign to not only highlight current weddings trends in Malayasia, but to educate potential users on how the software can be an effective tool as they embark on the wedding planning process. We also leveraged EDM (electronic direct mail) as a platform to communicate with our existing users to ensure they were staying up to date with the latest information about WeddingLah.
WeddingLah became Malaysia’s first and top wedding planning software. After only six short months, we have established ourselves as an essential tool and garnered attention from various online media sites who reported on our innovative, and effective software.
To date, our user base is growing steadily at a rate of 15% month over month.
