Jon Achar is a thoughtful creative professional with deep expertise in brand marketing, content development, and tactical execution of big media brands. 

As part of the Purpose/Built global management team, Jon works to seamlessly design and integrate client-agency teams built for fit and tailored to purpose. As a senior account executive and creative who began his career with J. Walter Thompson in New York City and spent nearly 15 years in senior leadership roles at ESPN, Jon is uniquely positioned to incubate our uniquely collaborative partnership model to ensure the outcome of each project is perfectly conceived and designed for performance.

During his career at ESPN, Jon rose to Vice President Marketing, Creative Services & Consumer Products, where he served on the senior executive team within ESPN’s Sales and Marketing Group, helping develop and implement the media company’s overall brand, creative strategy, and advertising fiscal planning. Jon led an in-house team of 45 writer-producers, digital and graphic developers, technical operations staff, and consumer product designers.

Jon’s team at ESPN successfully converged the growing areas of creative content-based marketing, audience engagement, platform-to-platform navigation, and sales sponsored co-marketing. This included long and short-form television creative, digital and social media advertising, out-of-home, and environmental/event design. Jon also managed ESPN Global Consumer Products, the Company’s product licensing division, which includes ESPN and X Games branded product, operating in worldwide markets with retail extensions that include the ESPN Zone shops at LA Live, Disneyland as well as ESPN’s Wide World of Sports complex, in Orlando. 

Jon joined us following an advisory contract role as Executive Producer, Creative Content at One Up Media Group in New York, where he led the production, content, and talent of the nationally syndicated digital publisher of sports news and analysis to launch. 

A graduate of Georgetown and Columbia Universities, Jon was selected to the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) Leadership Development Program at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business, has earned numerous industry awards, and has served as an industry executive mentor for NAMIC and PROMAX
